Teaching Assistant

Become a Teaching Assistant - and discover the variety, challenge and special rewards of the classroom!

As you may know, the role and importance of Teaching Assistants has grown enormously in recent years. So much so, that in most schools they are now seen as having a vital part to play inside the classroom.

As a Teaching Assistant your job would be to support both the teacher and the pupils in the classroom setting. This could involve anything from carrying out simple administrative tasks, to carrying out learning tasks with a small group of children, to offering one-on-one support to a special needs pupil.

Depending on the age group you feel most comfy with, you can choose to work in either a primary or secondary school. And you can even choose to specialise in a particular area - such as numeracy, literacy, or IT.

If you like variety, and relish the challenge of helping children reach their full potential, then being a Teaching Assistant is a hugely rewarding career. And the good news is that our Teaching Assistant Certificate course is a great way to get started.

You don’t need any previous teaching or classroom experience before doing this training. But by the end of it you will be eligible for your ASET Level 2 Teaching Assistant certificate - a recognised and respected qualification.

Child Learning & Development

If you’re planning a career in Child Care, here’s your chance to prepare for a wide range of roles.

Whether you’re planning to work in a nursery, crèche or pre-school setting, or in a nannying or babysitting environment, this course will serve as the perfect introduction to a fascinating subject and provide a sound foundation for your future career. That’s because it has been very carefully designed to give you a good all-round knowledge of the entire child care sector catering for children of any age from 0 to 11.

For instance, you’ll start by covering all you need to know about the current laws and regulations concerning child protection, children’s rights and health and safety. And then, with that foundation firmly in place, you’ll go on to gain a thorough understanding of everything involved in providing for children’s developmental and learning needs - from earliest childhood, right through to age 11.

By the end of your training you’ll have a keen appreciation of the role of learning and development in child care settings, and the legislative context in which child carers operate. You will also have a good understanding of the interpersonal skills child carers need to have, along with a good understanding of early education frameworks.

Thanks to its comprehensive nature, the general child care skills and knowledge you gain on this training will go on serving you throughout your career. Plus, you’ll earn a qualification - the NOCN* Level 3 Diploma in Child Care, Learning and Development - that will help you stand out when applying for jobs.
